How does ID verification work?+
You scan your government ID using your phone camera. Our partner Veriff verifies the document in under 60 seconds using AI. Your ID data is permanently deleted immediately after verification — Realize keeps zero biometric or document data. What remains is a simple verified status attached to your handle.
Is my data safe?+
Yes. All messages are end-to-end encrypted using the Signal Protocol — the same technology used by Signal and WhatsApp. Only you and the person you're messaging can read your conversations. Realize cannot read your messages.
Why no phone number?+
Phone numbers are a security liability. They can be spoofed, SIM-swapped, and used to hijack your financial accounts via 2FA. Realize uses your verified @handle as your only identifier — no phone number is ever collected or shared.
Can I change my handle?+
Your handle is permanent once chosen — this is by design. A permanent handle is part of what makes your Realize ID a trustworthy credential. Choose it carefully.
How do I report someone?+
Open the conversation, tap the profile icon, then tap "Block or Report." Because every user is verified, reports are taken seriously and misuse has real consequences. Verified accounts that are reported are reviewed by our trust team.
